Sporting Kansas City's Teal Bunbury will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL and injuring his LCL during Sunday's game against the New York Red Bulls, the team announced on Monday. The injury occurred in the 4th minute on a play in which Bunbury picked up an assist. Bunbury was able to beat Red Bulls goalkeeper Bill Gaudette to a pass over the top from Graham Zusi and knocked it over to Kai Kamara, who headed it into the net.

Teal Bunbury tore his ACL while picking up an assist in Sunday’s game against the Red Bulls.
The most likely replacement in the lineup would be CJ Sapong, who had periodically started in place of Bunbury anyway. Sapong started the season strong, scoring five goals in the first 13 games. He has not scored since then, though, and has played just 86 minutes in the last five matches.
Bunbury has scored five goals this season, but three of them had come in the last eight matches. His 21 career MLS goals is the most among players younger than 23.
