Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of acquiring Fulham midfielder Moussa Dembele, the Cottagers have confirmed. Having lost Luka Modric to Real Madrid this week, Spurs have been left with a great deal of money, an opening in midfield and not much time to fill it. Fulham have already accepted a bid for the Belgian, and manager Martin Jol's comments in the wake of the League Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday indicate that the 25-year-old is already undergoing a medical at Spurs.
Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur Agree Fee For Moussa Dembele
Moussa Dembele is taking a medical with Tottenham Hotspur after Fulham accepted Spurs’ bid for the Belgian midfielder.
Dembele’s been linked to several big clubs this summer, but it was Tottenham with the clearest need and the Modric money burning a hole in their pocket. He won’t provide the same sort tempo control as the departed Croatian, but Dembele has impressed over the last season or so with his strong tackling and swashbuckling runs. With the price rumoured to be around £15 million, half of what Spurs received for Modric, it’s not a bad deal at all.
