Benin international Stephane Sessegnon has committed to... well, making a lot more money at Sunderland. The Black Cats have confirmed that the midfielder has agreed to a new three year contract which will keep him at the Stadium of Light through the close of the 2014/15 season.

Sunderland have signed ace midfielder Stephane Sessegnon to a three year contract which will keep the Benin international at the Stadium of light through the 2014/15 season.
Bought from Paris Saint-Germain in the January 2011 transfer window, Sessegnon quickly established himself as Sunderland's main creative force through the centre, and this extension is well-deserved. In truth, most of it is a pay-raise: The 28-year-old was already under contract through 2014, so this only gets Martin O'Neill an extra year of the midfielder's services.
Although Sunderland’s official site claims that the extension is subject to work permit approval, Sessegnon’s established himself in the Premier League’s upper tier and bureaucracy is unlikely to be an issue. Getting more money means that it’s a good deal for him, and the extension is also a good move for a team that must have had at least some fear of losing their top man over wages.
