Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has picked up a minor injury on international duty, and will miss France's game against Belarus, and is a doubt for Arsenal's weekend fixture against Southampton.

French boss Didier Deschamps broke the news after France’s 1-0 victory over Finland in which Diaby scored the only goal, saying: “He took a bad knock and won’t train. He is not free in his movements.”

The news will be a bad blow for Arsene Wenger, who was positive about Diaby's chances of having a good season with the Gunners after he excelled during their 2-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield, but the player has a long history of injury problems, and his latest setback is a typical one.

There will be some good news elsewhere for Wenger, however, with Olivier Giroud shaking off an injury to be available for the weekend when Arsenal take on Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.
