Everton's e-deprived midfielder Darron Gibson will be out of action until early October, the club has confirmed. After suffering a thigh injury during their 2-0 defeat against West Bromwich Albion, the prognosis was the Gibson, 24, would be out for four to five weeks, and a fortnight later, David Moyes has confirmed that timetable:

The only person who seems to be out is Darron Gibson. He’s got a thigh strain which we think would initially keep him out for four to five weeks. Obviously he’s missed two weeks already, so hopefully he’s not too far away.
Another three weeks out means that Gibson will miss a slew of games, including league matches against Newcastle, Swansea City and Southampton as well as a third-round League Cup tie against Leeds United. The midfielder, signed from Manchester United in the January transfer window, had started all three matches of Everton's impressive young league campaign, and losing him, even for a few matches, could be a major blow as the Toffees look to continue their hot start. He should be back, however, in time for the away match against Wigan Athletic.
