Queens Park Rangers earned a hard-fought point against top of the table Chelsea at Loftus Road last weekend, only their second of the young season, but they managed to lose a potentially key player in the process. For much of the first half, 31-year-old striker Andy Johnson was their most incisive player, causing the Blues huge problems as he roamed flank to flank. And then, suddenly, he wasn't.
Andy Johnson Suffers Torn ACL, QPR Striker Out Long-Term
Queens Park Rangers have lost centre forward Andy Johnson for most of the rest of the season after the 31-year-old suffered a torn ACL against Chelsea on Saturday.

He wasn't because, as it turns out, the 31-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament. The injury didn't look nearly that serious when Johnson hobbled off in the 33rd minute, with manager Mark Hughes expressing hope that he'd be just fine when asked after his striker's health post-match, but scans have revealed that the problem is indeed serious, and QPR's Twitter account has claimed that the striker will miss most of the rest of the season as he recovers. With the club fairly light on depth at centre forward -- they've only got Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse to choose from now that Johnson's out -- and the window closed, this could have a fairly major impact on their ability to ever score goals.
