Paris Saint-Germain have finally won their first game of the season thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s brace against Lille, and they added to a good weekend by making yet another transfer market splash, signing right back Gregory van der Wiel from Ajax. According to the PSG website, the Holland international, who’s been linked to a host of huge clubs across Europe for over the last two transfer windows, has signed a four-year deal which will keep him at the Parc de Princes through the 2015/16 season.

The 24-year-old right back will be competing for playing time against Chirstophe Jallet, who’s featured in more than a century of league games for PSG. If van der Wiel’s recent performances for Holland are any indication, there’s no guarantee that he’ll win out. The transfer fee is undisclosed, but European right backs haven’t been going for too much on the open market lately, so it’d be a shock to see it much about €10 million. Then again, it’s PSG. Who knows!
