Copa del Rey, Fifth Round: Barca cruises, Betis survives
Barcelona had no troubles seeing off Cordoba, while Real Betis survived a close tie against Las Palmas.
Getafe 0-0 (0-3) Atletico Madrid
Getafe's already slim chances of a comeback were thwarted in the 33rd minute when defender Rafael López Gómez was shown a straight red card. With a three goal lead and a man advantage, Atletico seemed perfectly content to just see out the match and advance to the next round.
Barcelona 5-0 (7-0) Cordoba
Defending Copa de Rey champions Barcelona cruised in to the quarterfinals with a 5-0 demolition of Cordoba. Thiago opened the scoring for Barca while David Villa and Alexis Sánchez both added a brace. The match ended on a bit on a down note for Tito Vilanova as Villa was forced to leave with a hamstring injury.
Real Betis 1-0 (2-1) Las Palmas
A goal in the 85th minute by Real Betis's Rubén put the final nail in second division side Las Palmas hopes of pulling off the unlikely upset. Las Palmas came close a couple times to grabbing an away goal, including a chance with three minutes left in the match that was headed just over the cross bar. Las Palmas defender Enrique Corrales was sent off in stoppage time after being shown a second yellow card.
