Real Madrid appear to be on their way to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey after they took care of business at home against Valencia on Tuesday. They're still another leg yet to play, but it's tough to see Los Che turning around Madrid's 2-0 home victory, as good as they are at the Mestalla.

It’s tough to see a way back for Valencia in their Copa del Rey tie. Real Madrid are firmly in control after their 2-0 home win on Tuesday.
Valencia looked dangerous on the counter in the early going, but committed too many men forward in search of a goal and were undone by a counter the other way in the 37th minute. Michael Essien started the move with a run through the center from his right back position and a great pass into the feet of Sami Khedira. He touched the ball on to Karim Benzema, who finished calmly.
The game remained fairly even heading into the second half, but an own goal by Andres Guardado sunk Valencia and likely killed off any chance they had of advancing to the next round. A 1-0 loss in Madrid would have been possible to turn around, but a two-goal win over Madrid in Valencia seems unlikely.
