Ashley Cole to sign new contract at Chelsea, say reports

Ashley Cole has signed a new contract with Chelsea, keeping him tied to the club for at least another year.

Ashley Cole is set to sign a new deal at Chelsea, with the England left-back set to continue at Stamford Bridge for at least one more season, according to reports.

The new contract is believed to run up until the end of 2014, which will kill suggestions in the press that Cole was set to move to another club, with a move to Manchester United having been suggested. The deal is believed to now be agreed, however, with both parties only waiting on formalities to officially complete the signing.

Despite Ryan Bertrand's introduction to the Chelsea squad, Cole has still not been displaced at left-back and remains first-choice for both club and country. With the defender still a part of new manager Rafael Benitez's plans, it seems he's decided to stick around. Chelsea will be glad of having the continuity after bringing in a lot of new players in the past two years.
