Ashley Cole has signed a new contract with Chelsea, with the new deal keeping the English left-back at the club until 2014.
Ashley Cole signs new Chelsea contract
Chelsea have confirmed that Ashley Cole has signed a new one-year deal to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Reports had suggested Cole was set to sign the deal last week, before manager Rafael Benitez confirmed the story, with only formalities set to be concluded, and Cole has now made the signing official.
With his contract set to expire in summer, a number of destinations had been touted for the defender, such as Paris Saint-Germain and even a move to Chelsea's rivals, Manchester United.
Ashley Cole spoke about the new contract to Chelsea’s official website, saying: “I am pleased I will be starting my eighth season at Chelsea.”
”I have been able to fulfil nearly all my ambitions at Chelsea. I have won the Champions League, the League, I have won FA Cups here but of course you don’t want to stop winning trophies and being at a big club, you are always fighting to win a trophy.
"Being here for seven years and being at Arsenal before that playing for trophies, you never lose that hunger.
“I wanted to stay at Chelsea because we are always fighting and challenging for trophies. That desire and the will to want to win things have not gone.”
With one veteran now having committed for next season, all eyes will now be on his teammate Frank Lampard, whose contract is also set to expire in summer, and with hopes of a new deal looking increasingly faint.
