2013 League Cup final: Swansea will meet Bradford City at Wembley Stadium

An improbable Football League Cup final will feature two first-time finalists, and the first fourth division club to make a major final since 1962.

On February 24, Bradford City will meet Swansea City -- who snuck by Chelsea on Wednesday -- in the final of the English Football League Cup. Bradford will be appearing in their first major cup final in over 100 years, while Swansea will face their first major cup final ever. In all of their League Cup and FA Cup participations, they have never reached a final.

Bradford are the first club from the fourth tier of English football to reach a cup final since 1962, when Rochdale achieved the feat. They have never won the League Cup, but lifted the FA Cup once in 1911. They pulled off two stunning upsets of Premier League teams to make the final, downing Arsenal and Aston Villa in succession. Swansea had to get by Liverpool and Chelsea en route to the final, with Middlesborough sandwiched between them.

As a result of their qualification for the final, Swansea’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool on the date of the game will have to be rescheduled. Bradford City did not have a League Two match scheduled for the weekend of the final.
