For the first 70 minutes of their game against Algeria, the Ivory Coast decided to stand around. This was perfectly understandable, given that they had already progressed to the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations and Algeria had already been eliminated. The game had no bearing on the competition, so it wouldn't have been unsporting for neither team to do much. Instead, Les Elephants decided to start trying when they went 2-0 down, and fought back for a 2-2 draw.

Ivory Coast entered Wednesday already through in the Africa Cup of Nations, while Algeria was already out. They played anyway. Their game was dumb.
Ivory Coast gave away a penalty after just seven minutes, and Desert Foxes attacker Ryad Boudebouz proceeded to miss it. The rest of the first half was rather uneventful. Things sparked to life in the 64th minute when Ivory Coast gave away yet another spot kick, which was converted by Sofiane Feghouli that time around.
Algeria continued to push forward and found a second goal through Hilal Soudani, who nodded in a cross by Feghouli. Igor Lolo hilariously looked like he couldn't be bothered to defend and let Soudani run right by him.
Didier Drogba fired his side back into the match, directing an excellent header from the center of the box into the back of the net, assisted by Kolo Toure in the 77th minute. Wilfried Bony secured a point for his team four minutes later, scoring on a badly deflected shot that appeared to be going wide.
