Lazio vs Catania, Final Score 3-0: Cup run continues for the Sky Blues

Goals in either half were enough to see off Catania at the Stadio Olimpico, as Lazio booked a place in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

Stefan Radu headed the Eagles in front, before Hernanes added two more in a 3-0 Lazio win to set up a mouthwatering tie with either Juventus or AC Milan.

Lazio have extended their impressive unbeaten streak to 13 games in all competitions. Ironically, the run started after a heavy 4-0 loss at Catania back in November.

Both sides were without their first choice goalkeepers, while Francesco Lodi was eligible to play as his current three match ban only applies to Serie A.

Catania allowed Luis Pedro Cavanda to ghost past several markers in the second minute. His cross from the byline was headed clear before Hernanes could get on the end of it.

Mariano Izco struck the post on five minutes, with Albano Bizzarri beaten and clutching at air.

At the other end, Alberto Frison pulled off a low save to thwart Antonio Candreva from a Sergio Floccari pull back.

Lazio took the lead after half an hour. Radu met a corner with a glancing header which beat Frison at the far post.

Floccari almost doubled the advantage, but saw his volley beaten away, while Gonzalo Bergessio dragged a shot wide after being threaded through just before the break.

Straight after the restart, Sergio Almiron curled over from an inviting position, while Bizzarri got crucial fingertips to a Bergessio shot that was sneaking in underneath the bar. From the resulting corner, Ciro Capuano wasted a free header.

Candreva curled a corner over the outstretched hand of Frison, but Giuseppe Biava could only direct his header into the side netting.

Lazio doubled their advantage on the hour. Floccari showed good strength to hold off the Catania defence as he got to the byline and rolled the ball to Hernanes. The Brazilian stuck out a foot and prodded the ball past Frison and into the bottom corner from six yards.

Giuseppe Bellusci's last ditch tackle stopped Floccari pulling the trigger when through on goal. Catania's horrible luck continued when the ball ping-ponged around the Lazio box and Bergessio failed to take advantage by running in and poking wide.

Towards the end, Lodi floated a free kick over and Cristian Brocchi's volley trickled past the post. Biava stayed alert to cut out a dangerous ball from reaching Souleymane Doukara, while Floccari curled the ball into Frison's gloves from the edge of the area.

Lazio added a third in stoppage time. Floccari once again was the instigator, as he found Hernanes in the box with a clever pass. The Prophet fooled Frison to the floor with a stepover before thumping the ball into an empty net.
