Bosnia and Herzegovina qualify for the 2014 World Cup

For the first time since the team’s founding in 1992, Bosnia and Herzegovina have qualified for the World Cup.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's national team was formed in 1992 in the wake of the the country's formation after Yugoslavia broke apart. Over the past 21 years, the team has failed to qualify for a major tournament but thanks to a 1-0 win against Lithuania, that wait is over.

The Dragons will make their first appearance on world football’s biggest stage when they travel to Brazil next summer as one of the representatives from UEFA. It’s a massive moment for the nation and the team, who took advantage of one of the weaker qualifying groups, finishing just ahead of Greece on goal differential.

They are led by leading scorer Edin Džeko, who has 10 goals in UEFA qualifying.
