Southampton have been one of the season's surprise packages so far, with Mauricio Pochettino slowly but surely erasing the bizarrely angelic apparition of ex-boss Nigel Adkins which still haunts St Mary's. The Saints have won their last three games and have moved up to fourth in the league, though have a tough test away at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Manchester United vs. Southampton: Preview and TV schedule
Southampton have had an excellent start to the season, though face a stern test away at Old Trafford on Saturday.
David Moyes' side have been rather less impressive so far, having relied on a brace from teenage winger Adnan Januzaj to beat bottom side Sunderland before the international break. The Red Devils are now up into the top half of the table, currently four points adrift of the side they host this weekend.
United will certainly be without long-term absentee Darren Fletcher, while Rio Ferdinand and Tom Cleverley face fitness tests to determine their availability. Southampton are comparatively much healthier, with only Pablo Osvaldo doubtful.
