Paris Saint Germain’s expected romp through Group C continues on Wednesday when they host Benfica at the Parc de Princes. The Portuguese should be the Parisians’ biggest challenge in the group stage, but asking them to win at PSG is probably asking a little much of Benfica.
Paris Saint Germain vs. Benfica: Preview and TV schedule
Can Benfica hang with mighty PSG at the Parc de Princes?
Both teams are shockingly fit, with Thiago Silva the only player from either side set to miss the match through injury, but Silva is a major absence for a PSG side that has only kept two clean sheets this season. With Oscar Cardozo awaiting them, that doesn't bode well for the home side and it puts a lot of weight on Marquinhos' shoulders to man the defense.
Unfortunately for Benfica, simply breaking through the PSG defense once is unlikely to be enough. Not with PSG's dynamic attack, which has scored in every match this season and is averaging nearly two goals per match across all competitions. Ezequiel Garay has been the subject of interest from big clubs across Europe for years and a stellar match against Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani will only further fuel the interest from the world's richest clubs.
