adidas want you to be seen with the new Enlightened pack

With boot colorways getting brighter and brighter thanks to colors like Electricity, Volt, Fireberry, and so on, adidas has gone back to black-and-white with their new pack of boots but that doesn’t mean they’re dull.

Over the last few days, adidas have been teasing a brand new look for, well, something. All they told the public was that “the enlightened” was coming and that it was going to be bright. The short video clips featured a dark background with bright floodlights and even brighter flashes. The new collection will drop today in conjunction with the midweek Champions League action and has now been officially revealed by adidas.

The Enlightened, is, in short, a brand new colorway pack from adidas for their four boot silos: the adizero f50, nitrocharge, predator, and 11pro. At first glance, they are all carry a very classy and understated black-and-white look with the famous three stripes standing in stark contrast from the rest of the boot. Under the lights, however, it all changes. For the first time in their football boots, adidas have employed the use of “flash fabric” that reflects more light than the surrounding materials, creating an entirely new look in direct light.

Despite it being adidas’ first use of the material in football boots, they are not the first company to use the idea. Earlier this year, Lotto introduced their Solista boot, which was just about entirely made of the stuff and was, in turn, very bright.

The boots, apart from the new upper and colorway, are much of the same in terms of their build and quality. That’s a very good thing given just how good the nitrocharge, adizero f50, and predator lz2 are. adidas are also carrying the new “reflective exposure” material onto the miadidas system, allowing players an extra level of customization when they create their boots.

The collection will be on show in Champions League play today and tomorrow (the 22nd and 23rd of October) with a number of adidas’ biggest stars using them on one of football’s biggest stages.
