Sunderland and Newcastle have both gotten off to poor starts this season, and the Tyne-Wear derby should be a fiery encounter with both sides desperate for a victory.
Sunderland vs. Newcastle: Lineups
Steven Fletcher returns to start in Sunderland’s lineup, while Paul Dummett continues at left-back as Newcastle travel to the Stadium of Light to contest the Tyne-Wear derby.
The hosts have enjoyed the better results in the fixture recently, most notably with Paolo di Canio inspiring his side to an emphatic win at the end of last season.
There are few surprises in either lineup, although Andrea Dossena starts for Sunderland, with Steven Fletcher and Jozy Altidore both up front.
Newcastle, meanwhile, continue with Gouffran at centre-forward backed up by Hatem Ben Arfa and Loic Remy. Paul Dummett, who scored a memorable goal last time out, gets a start at centre-back.
Sunderland starting lineup: Kieran Westwood, Phil Bardsley, Dossena, John O'Shea, Carlos Cuellar, Lee Cattermole, Jack Colback, Sebastian Larsson, Adam Johnson, Jozy Altidore, Steven Fletcher.
Newcastle starting lineup: Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Paul Dummett, Davide Santon; Moussa Sissoko, Cheik Tiote, Yohan Cabaye; Yoan Gouffran, Hatem Ben Arfa, Loic Remy.
