After looking rather impressive last week in the win over Manchester City, Aston Villa's attack was significantly less effective in their scoreless draw against Hull City. Fortunately for Villa, the Tigers were equally anemic as the two teams played a rather mundane 90 minutes of football.

One suspects they won’t be selling DVDs of this match as Hull and Villa played to a scoreless draw.

Hull City generated the best chance of the opening quarter hour as Danny Graham collected a through ball on the right side on the Villa area and picked out Stephen Quinn making a run. An excellent sliding effort from defender Leandro Bacuna cut off the pass, knocking the ball out for a corner before it could reach the Hull midfielder.
Villa’s first good chance finally arrived in the 21st minute after Gabriel Agbonlahor escaped from his marker in the midfield and made a nice run, drifting left into the some space. His shot from the edge of the area was pushed wide of the post by an diving Allan McGregor.
Nothing of note really happened again until the 53rd minute when Bacuna made an excellent run down the right wing before finding Andreas Weimann on the right edge of the Hull box. Weimann laid the ball off to Agbonlahor, who was wide open in the middle of the box. But what looked like a sure goal as the play unfolded, ended in a shot that sailed wide.
Beyond that neither team really seemed capable of taking the chances they did get and by the end, a draw was both inevitable and seemingly just fine with both teams.
