Lionel Messi and the Barcelona medical team are reportedly targeting a January return for the star attacking player. Messi tore his hamstring in Barca's win over Real Betis last weekend and the initial reports were that the Argentine striker would miss six to eight weeks.
Lionel Messi injury: Barcelona striker targeting a January return
The Barcelona striker has targeted a post-winter break return as he recovers from a torn hamstring suffered last weekend.

Given that Spain has a winter break, it’s not surprising that Messi will take on the long end of that timeframe to make his return to the Barcelona starting XI.
According to SPORT.es, Messi will split recovery time between Barcelona and Argentina as he works his way back from his most recent leg injury. Messi has been in and out of the lineup for the Blaugrana this season having suffered several minor muscle injuries in his legs. After trying to recover quickly and return to play as soon as possible with the previous problems, patience appears to be the plan this time around.
If all goes as planned, Messi will be ready to return the first week of January when Barcelona plays Elche.
