Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Preview and TV schedule

Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur in the pick of Sunday’s action, with both sides looking to get back to winning ways.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur both headed into the international break on the back of defeats; City's coming away at Gus Poyet's resurgent Sunderland, with Spurs' at home to Newcastle United. Those results epitomise both sides' frustratingly inconsistent starts to the season, and leave them separated by a point down in eighth and seventh respectively.

That makes their meeting at the Etihad on Sunday even more interesting. A win for could kick-start either side’s campaign, though back-to-back defeats would dent confidence yet further. Unfortunately for Spurs, all of City’s troubles have come on the road this season, with Manuel Pellegrini overseeing victories in all five of his side’s home league games. Spurs may have only lost once away from White Hart Lane, though André Villas-Boas’ side head into this one as underdogs.

That's despite the continued absence of City captain Vincent Kompany, who is sidelined through injury alongside teammates David Silva and Stevan Jovetić. Spurs will be without Christian Eriksen and Danny Rose, while Emmanuel Adebayor may not be fit enough to participate after his layoff.
