Manchester United's 1-0 win over Arsenal prior to the international break was their third consecutive league victory; a result which has handily forced a more sympathetic reevaluation of their slow start to the season. David Moyes' side are now up in fifth place, having not lost in their last nine games in all competitions.

They’ll look to cut the deficit to the league leaders yet further with a win away in Cardiff on Sunday, taking advantage of the Bluebirds’ patchy form. Malky Mackay’s side are down in 14th place, a couple of points above the relegation zone heading into round 12. Having only won thrice all season, it’s hard to see them taking points from an in-form United.
However, they have a comparatively short injury list compared to their opponents. While Mackay only has Andreas Cornelius doubtful, Moyes has a string of absentees -- including regular first teamers Michael Carrick, Danny Welbeck and Phil Jones. Full-back Rafael will hope to recover from his frustrating ankle injury in time to be involved, though it seems likely Chris Smalling will continue to fill in for the Brazilian.
Cardiff City injuries and suspensions
Out: None. In doubt: Andreas Cornelius (ankle).
