Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Preview and TV schedule

Separated by only a point and a couple of places in the table, Everton’s game at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday is an intriguing matchup.

Tottenham Hotspur find themselves up in the Premier League's final Champions League spot after nine games of the season, despite so far failing to impress with their performances. They travel north to play Everton on Sunday, with the Toffees currently only a point and a couple of places behind Spurs in the table.

Everton have started the season excellently, with the pre-season Roberto Martínez skeptics forced to chomp on their words. They head into this round having won five of their opening nine games, and so far maintained an unbeaten record at Goodison Park. A win would see them leapfrog Spurs, and could mean they’d jump as high as second in the table.

Unfortunately, the Toffees do have some injury concerns to contend with. Darron Gibson and Arouna Koné are both definitely sidelined, while Antolín Alcaraz and Johnny Heitinga are early doubts. For Spurs, Younes Kaboul will miss out as he continues to fight for fitness, though there's hope that Étienne Capoue and Danny Rose could recover from ankle injuries to be involved.

Everton injuries and suspensions

Out: Darron Gibson (knee), Arouna Koné (ankle). In doubt: Antolín Alcaraz (match fitness), Johnny Heitinga (groin).
