adidas tries to make winter more colorful with Samba Collection

Winters can be a wholly depressing time of year. The sun rises later and sets earlier in the day and for many people working 9-to-5 jobs, it can mean missing sunlight for the whole day between the commute and being in an office building all day. By the time you’re able to go out and actually play some soccer, it’s dark and you’re under the floodlights. adidas unveiled their solution for that a few weeks back but their newest look is about brightening those gray winter days up.

Today, adidas has announced and unveiled the Samba collection of boots to celebrate next year's World Cup in Brazil. The new collection features the four familiar adidas boot silos (adizero F50, Predator Lethal Zones, NitroCharge, and 11Pro) in a variety of new colors meant to be energetic and spirited. The players that will be wearing the new look are some of the usual suspects including Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Mesut Ozil, Dani Alves, Oscar, Xavi, Karim Benzema, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Jozy Altidore, Omar Gonzalez, and Graham Zusi, among others.

Each of the four boot silos will come in its own unique color with the adizero F50 donning Solar Blue, the Predators in Vivid Berry, the Nitrocharge in Solar Slime, and the 11Pro in Blast Purple. That last boot, the 11Pro, has seen an update in addition to the new color and will now feature a new outsole with conical studs and a new upper that features memory foam in the upper to enhance control.

Speaking in adidas' press release, United States Men's National Team and Sunderland forward, Jozy Altidore, shared his thoughts on the boots:

“adidas always changes the game with its innovation and the new Samba collection will stand out even more on the field. All players like to make statements with their cleats and the bright color of my adizero F50 will no doubt distinguish me leading up to World Cup next summer in Brazil.”

Ernesto Bruce, the director of soccer for adidas America, added:

"Brazil is a country rooted in rich soccer tradition, inspired by high energy, bright colors and lively spirit. The Samba collection captures Brazil's unique character and brings an explosion of color to the field that players and fans won't be able to miss. We're combining the best in footwear innovation with high-impact design in this new Samba collection."

We’ll be sure to give you an in-depth look when we get our hands (and feet) on them.
