The Saints are currently just a couple of points behind third-placed Chelsea, and have been the surprise package of the Premier League season. They suffered only their second defeat of the campaign against league leaders Arsenal last weekend, and will be eager to bounce back at the first opportunity.

José Mourinho will be unable to select David Luiz, Samuel Eto'o and Marco van Ginkel through injury, though Ashley Cole should be available again after a rib problem. Southampton have Guly do Prado sidelined after knee surgery, while Dejan Lovren and Jack Cork are in doubt.
