Granada vs. Real Madrid: Final score 1-0, Los Blancos in shock loss

The La Liga title race was probably over in October, but Real Madrid should still be expected to put their best foot forward in most league matches. They were a bit embarrassing in their 1-0 loss to Granada on Saturday.

Real Madrid's first shot on target came in the 58th minute of their match against Granada. The hosts didn't manage a single shot on target. Thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's first career own goal, they've run out 1-0 winners over Los Blancos anyway, and have secured three absolutely massive points in their race to avoid relegation.

Ronaldo’s own goal came in the 22nd minute, on a corner kick the near post. He attempted to clear the ball away for another corner, but instead directed a beautiful, unstoppable header into his own goal.

It took until the 84th minute for a player other than Ronaldo to record a shot on target for either club. Jose Maria Callejon was the second man to hit the target, forcing a save from Toño. The ball only went as far as Karim Benzema, but the French international center forward screwed his shot at an open net horribly wide.

Granada defended exquisitely throughout the closing minutes and took the opportunity to clear every 50-50 ball in an astonishingly good defensive performance. They never managed a shot on target in the match, but absolutely deserved their clean sheet.
