Sampdoria-Inter Milan match postponed due to flood warning

Andrea Stramaccioni’s rain dance has paid dividends. His side’s trip to the Luigi Ferraris has been called off, due to adverse weather conditions.

The game between Sampdoria and Inter Milan, scheduled for tonight has been called off due to flood warnings in Genoa.

Local authorities released an extreme weather warning early Saturday evening, with the risk of flash floods very likely.

Motorists have been advised to stay off the roads due to a prediction of heavy snow and rain. The city has a history of flooding in recent years. No new date as of yet has been announced to play the game.

Both sides suffered defeat last weekend, but the postponement plays into the hands of Nerazzurri coach Andrea Stramaccioni. The under pressure tactician will be glad of an additional recuperation period for his side after seeing them bow out of the Europa League in extra time on Thursday evening.

Torino-Lazio will also face a late safety check, due to heavy snowfall predicted in Turin. That game is also set for an evening kick-off.
