Chelsea came into Saturday taking only 11 points from a possible 24 in their past eight Premier League games, but they received all three points after defeating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. Demba Ba scored the game's only goal, and Chelsea enjoyed the better of play for the majority of the game. The scoreline could have easily been different, if not for some very nice work by West Brom keeper Ben Foster.
Chelsea vs. West Bromwich Albion: Final score 1-0, Chelsea earn three badly needed points
Chelsea and Rafa Benitez got some relief on Saturday, winning a tense 1-0 game over West Bromwich Albion.

Chelsea looked to be the better side early in the game, and deservedly broke through first in the 28th minute when Ba scored, putting home the ball off a short corner. Chelsea had the majority of the chances, but were not able to convert any of them due to a sterling performance by Ben Foster, and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
West Brom showed a bit more attacking in the second half, but weren't able to do more than occasionally threaten Petr Cech. Peter Odemwingie came on just after the hour mark, but still weren't able to do much damage in the attacking third. The Baggies missed the presence of Romelu Lukaku, who had to miss the game due to the terms of his loan from Chelsea.
The result puts Chelsea back into third place in the Premier League table, pending the result of Sunday's North London Derby, and also brings the beleaguered Rafa Benitez a bit of relief. West Brom, meanwhile, remain in seventh, one point ahead of Liverpool.
Chelsea will be back in action on Thursday, March 7, as they will travel to face Steuea Bucaresti in the Europa League. West Brom will play again next Saturday, when they host Swansea at The Hawthorns.
