Southampton will look to continue their reasonable form when they take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, with the Saints still having work to do in the relegation battle.
Southampton vs. Chelsea: Preview and TV schedule
Southampton will look to continue their battle against the drop when the host Chelsea on Saturday, with the Blues still at risk of dropping out of the top four.
Mauricio Pocchettino's side are four points clear of Wigan Athletic in 18th, although the Latics have a game in hand on them, so they are still far from safe. Their form has been decent since Pocchettino replaced Nigel Adkins, although too often they have dominated games and come out with nothing to show for it.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are still at risk of dropping out of the top four. They only have a five-point lead over in-form Arsenal, and should they suffer another poor run, Rafael Benitez's men could find themselves out of the Champions League for next season.
Southampton injuries and suspensions
In doubt: Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Jos Hooiveld.
Chelsea injuries and suspensions
In doubt: Ramires (achilles), Gary Cahill (knee)
Southampton will assess ‘minor knocks’ to Lallana, Shaw, and Hooiveld, and the return of Lallana in particular could be vital in keeping the saints up. They otherwise have no new injury problems, and Vegard Forren could also make his debut after featuring for Norway in the International break.
Chelsea also have a clean bill of health, but will rotate players ahead of a gruelling fixture list which sees them follow up this game with an FA Cup quarter-final replay against Manchester United.
