Bayern Munich vs. Juventus, 2013 UEFA Champions League: The return of the Old Lady

Juventus makes their return to the Champions League quarterfinals and our Juve blog is riled up about the fact their side isn’t getting top billing from the broadcast rights holder in the USA.

It's been seven years since Juventus featured in the Champions League quarterfinals. If you ask any fans of the Old Lady, they'll probably tell you that is way too long. They'll also tell you that this is right where their beloved club belongs.

Our Juventus blog Black & White & Read All Over agrees with those sentiments and their excitement is palpable in their full preview of today’s match in Germany. They’re also not to happy with the American broadcast rights holders for not featuring this European heavyweight battle as their main broadcasting event.

Juventus’ quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich has been a long time coming. And it just so happens that in Juventus’ return to the elite eight of European football, it’s the main event of the round. Even though most of us residents of the United States won’t be able to watch it live on our televisions (thanks, Fox Soccer), this is heavyweight vs. heavyweight. If it were taking place in Vegas, it would be the top of the card with the biggest of celebrities sitting ringside to watch.

While they may have a point about the coverage, they aren’t likely to get much sympathy for the general soccer audience who tend to have a less than positive opinion about Juventus.

It’s not all crankiness though from BWRAO though, there’s also plenty of useful information about the match and everything you’ll need to be ready for today’s action, from the Juventus perspective.
