Goalkeeper Mariano Andújar and full-back Giuseppe Bellusci have both been given three match bans after their unfriendly reaction to Josip Iličić's 95th minute winner on Sunday.
Catania hit with suspensions after Palermo antics
Catania’s players didn’t take kindly to conceding the last kick of the match against fierce rivals Palermo, and after a scuffle broke out, they’ve been given a couple of suspensions.
Andújar is probably quite lucky it's only three games, after his assault on Palermo midfielder Édgar Barreto. Andújar came charging over to Barreto before grabbing him around the waist and hauling him to ground, delivering several punches to his stomach and almost restarting another Paraguayan War. As for Bellusci, he's found himself sidelined for just as long for grabbing the neck of an opponent.
It's just as well that Catania's ambitions of Europe seem to be over, as they'll find things harder without this duo. The elefanti haven't won in their last four games, and have dropped to ninth place. Five points adrift of the Europa League places, and with a trip to play AC Milan at the San Siro next, it's hard to see them qualifying.
