Bayern Munich vs. Barcelona: Mario Gomez doubles the lead

Update: Bayern Munich 4-0 Barcelona, final score - Match report.

Bayern picked up right where they left off in the second half and doubled their lead in the 50th minute as once against Barcelona were simply unable to deal with their size in the box.

Arjen Robben again started things with a corner across the box to the far post where Thomas Müller towered over his marker and headed the ball down centrally to Mario Gomez who was ridiculously unmarked for the easy tap-in. How Gomez was left alone in that much space will no doubt give Tito Vilanova fits as he easily has a couple yards clear on each side of him right in front of the goal.

It’s a nightmare start to the half for Barcelona who were probably hoping to try and slow things down and at least escape with just a one-goal deficit going into the second leg. Instead, they’ll know have to somehow slow down the German juggernaut and prevent a third goal.
