Sigurdsson strikes to keep Spurs’ hopes alive

Ian WaltonTottenham were struggling to get forward, although looked fairly dangerous on the rare occasions when they did. Lewis Holtby went close with a low effort from the edge of the area with his left foot, but Cech appeared to have it covered as it rolled narrowly wide.
Spurs managed to regain themselves after those scares, and forced some pressure and a never-ending string of corners themselves, but struggled to make any of them count. As time wore on, it appeared their efforts would be for nothing, when Adebayor stepped into action once again. Collecting a pass from Assou-Ekotto, the Togolese forward produced a fine backheel to give Gylfi Sigurdsson a chance at goal, and he made no mistake, firing into the bottom corner of the goal to level the scores.
