Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard to undergo surgery, miss remainder of season
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will have surgery on a shoulder problem which will keep him out for the Reds’ two remaining fixtures of the season.

The veteran midfielder is expected to be back in training for the start of pre-season, however, and with Liverpool having little to play for in the league, his absence should be of limited significance for the Merseyside club.
Liverpool announced the news of Steven Gerrard’s operation on their official website, saying: “The captain’s injury has progressively worsened in recent weeks and requires an operation to cure it.”
Gerrard, who has been capped 102 times for England, has had one of his better seasons of recent years despite his increasing age. The midfielder has managed 35 appearances for the club this season, his most in six years, and has also scored 9 goals, helping the club to a comfortable upper-mid-table finish.
