Rudi Garcia confirmed as new AS Roma coach
AS Roma have confirmed the appointment of Rudi Garcia as their new coach on a two-year deal.

Garcia will leave his current post at Lille, where he led the team to a memorable double in 2011, to lead the Serie A club out for the 2013-14 season. The Frenchman replaces Aurelio Andreazzoli in the Roma hot seat, after the club sacked previous manager Zdenek Zeman midway through the season.
Garcia beats several other big names to the job, including Marcelo Bielsa and Laurent Blanc. The deal had been reported by several outlets in both Italy and France in the past few days, and it seems that Lille have decided to voluntarily let their manager go, contrary to initial reports they would fight to hold onto their coach.
Garcia’s contract at Roma is believed to be worth around 1.5m euros per year. The move is the latest in a season of change for the club, after Director of Football Franco Baldini left to join Tottenham Hotspur.
