Brazil vs. Mexico, 2013 Confederations Cup: Lineups

Another game, another new lineup for Mexico. Brazil are unchanged.

Dean Mouhtaropoulos

If 'Chepo' Jose Manuel de la Torre is going to go down on Wednesday night, he's not exactly doing it swinging. He's playing the most defensive team he's ever fielded as Mexico manager and has moved veteran left back Carlos Salcido back into the center of midfield. Brazil, meanwhile, has not changed anyone from the team that defeated Japan on Saturday.

Brazil lineup (4-2-3-1): Julio Cesar; Marcelo, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Dani Alves; Luiz Gustavo, Paulinho; Oscar, Neymar, Hulk; Fred

Mexico lineup (4-2-3-1): Jose Corona; Jorge Torres Nilo, Hector Moreno, 'Maza' Francisco Rodriguez, Hiram Mier; Hector Herrera, Carlos Salcido; Andres Guardado, Giovani dos Santos; Gerardo Flores; 'Chicharito' Javier Hernandez

The Mier-Flores flank seemed to work well against Italy, even if Mexico did concede the winner after Mier was introduced, but the midfield selection is certainly curious. Jesus Zavala was very good against Italy and Brazil will probably be happy to see an old and immobile Mexico center.

Kickoff is at 3 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on ESPN in the United States.
