Dries Mertens has passed a medical at Napoli as the Belgian winger makes his move from PSV Eindhoven, the club have confirmed.

Napoli posted the news on their official website, which comes the day after the player was reported to have agreed terms on a five-year deal with the Serie A club. The fee is reported to be in the region of 9.5m euros, as the Partenopei begin life under Rafael Benitez.

Mertens, who scored 37 goals in 62 appearances for PSV, has 19 caps for Belgium and is a versatile forward who can play in several positions. He had been linked to a number of other clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, but his move to Napoli is now finalised. The 26-year-old's agent, Soren Lerby had earlier stated that Napoli would be "an excellent experience for him", and Mertens will be the first signing of a new era as the club adjusts to life without Walter Mazzarri and potentiall Edinson Cavani.Dries Mertens has passed a medical at Napoli after agreeing terms with the club, with the Belgian set to join on a five-year deal.
