There were grumblings that Brazil might make some tactical switches for their match against Italy, but have picked 10 of the same players that played in their first two games. Their only switch is Hernanes for Paulinho, who has a mild ankle sprain. Hulk keeps his place amidst rumors that he would be replaced. Italy is without a couple of midfielders and has handed a surprise start to Antonio Candreva. Alessandro Diamanti gets an attacking midfield spot over Emanuele Giaccherini, Sebastian Giovinco and Stephan El Shaarawy, with the latter struggling for fitness.
