Rumors out of Naples suggest new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to spend €58 million of Roman Abramovich's money on Edinson Cavani. Such a large sum of money would certainly allow Napoli to bring in a few new quality players alongside new addition Dries Mertens -- but it's still not enough to meet Cavani's €63m release clause.
Chelsea rumored to have offered 58 million for Edinson Cavani
The London club has made no secret of their interest in the Uruguayan, but will Chelsea meet Napoli’s high asking price?

Is it even realistic to think that Chelsea will pay so dearly for El Matador? It seems much more probable that they would offer players, in addition to money, in exchange for the forward. Current Napoli coach and former Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez likely wouldn't mind bringing some of his old players to the San Paolo. It may be Ramires that comes to Italy as part of the deal, or it may even be Fernando Torres. It's also possible that the Blues will simply sell Torres and use money to help fund the purchase of Cavani.
To add more fuel to the fire, whispers suggest that Manchester United might offer up to €50m for Cavani. Given United's recent approach to transfers, this seems highly unlikely, but it still might spur Chelsea into action.
