Brazil vs. Uruguay, 2013 Confederations Cup: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

It’s the Copa America match that should have been but never was, thanks to Mano Menezes and Paraguay. Brazil and Uruguay meet in an all-CONMEBOL semifinal.

Brazil steamrolled through the group stage of the Confederations Cup, comfortably beating all three of their opponents, and their home fans will expect a repeat performance in the semifinal against CONMEBOL rivals Uruguay on Wednesday.

Uruguay won the 2011 Copa America, a tournament in which Brazil struggled mightily, contributing to Brazil's eventual sacking of Mano Menezes. The two teams never got an opportunity to meet in that tournament, with Brazil going out early to eventual runners-up Paraguay. Since then, Uruguay's elder statesmen have begun to show their age, leading to some struggles in World Cup qualifying, but Diego Forlan seems to have enjoyed a minor resurgence in this tournament.

Brazil should be able to field their first choice team, with David Luiz and Paulinho having recovered from their injuries. Uruguay are short on defenders with Andres Scotti suspended, but Diego Lugano will return to the lineup.

Match date/time: Wednesday, 3 p.m. ET

Venue: Estadio Mineirao, Belo Horizante, Brazil

TV: ESPN (U.S - English), Univision (U.S. - Spanish), BBC Three (U.K.), Sportsnet World (Canada - English), TLN (Canada - Spanish), Globo (Brazil), DirecTV Sports (Uruguay)
