Jamaica vs. USA: Lineups

The United States and Jamaica face off on Friday night, and both teams badly need a result. Here are the starting lineups from Kingston.

The United States and Jamaica both need to take points out of Friday night's CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying match in Kingston. The Americans are coming off a huge 4-3 win over Germany in a friendly last week, and may have picked up some badly needed confidence. This game is the first of three qualifiers over the next two weeks, and getting a positive result in Kingston would go a long way. Head coach Jürgen Klinsmann is sending out a familiar 4-2-3-1 lineup, with no changes from the lineup that took the field vs. Germany.

The Reggae Boyz, on the other hand, are coming off a 1-0 loss to Mexico at home on Tuesday, and currently sit in sixth place in the Hex with two points, two behind Costa Rica, the United States, and Honduras. If they once again fail to pick up points at home tonight, their World Cup dreams will take a major hit. The Jamaicans are switching to a 4-4-2 lineup for this contest; Jermaine Johnson is starting in place of Je-Vaughn Watson in midfield, which is the only change in personnel.

Here are the starting lineups for Friday night’s World Cup Qualifier:

United States (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; Brad Evans, Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, DaMarcus Beasley; Jermaine Jones, Michael Bradley; Graham Zusi, Clint Dempsey, Fabian Johnson; Jozy Altidore

Jamaica (4-4-2): Donovan Ricketts; O'Brian Woodbine, Adrian Mariappa, Daniel Gordon, Alvas Powell; Marvin Elliott, Rodolph Austin; Garath McCleary, Jermaine Hue; Jermaine Johnson, Ryan Johnson

Kickoff is at 9:30 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on beIN Sport in the United States.
