The Mario Gómez to Fiorentina rumors have been circulating for a couple of weeks now. According to word on the streets (or on the Twitters), the Bayern Munich forward is all set to join up with la viola, but terms just need to be worked out between the teams. Or perhaps Fiorentina need to sell Stevan Jovetic first. Or maybe it's just that Gómez's agent is using Fior's interest to attract more attention to his client.
Mario Gómez and Fiorentina: Will he or won’t he?
It seems Fiorentina are keen on Bayern Munich forward Mario Gómez, and the feeling just might be mutual. But other factors are at play in this transfer scenario.

No matter what, the rumors seem solid enough to believe there's a chance that Gómez will end up in Florence. The German international, who slipped down in Bayern's pecking order after the arrival of Mario Mandzukic last season, is clearly ready for a new home. Even with Mandzukic around, Gómez managed 21 Bundesliga matches last season, scoring in 11 of those. Add to that his six goals in the Cup and two goals in Champions League, and it's easy to see why Fiorentina would like to have him around.
And then there's Jovetic, who will almost certainly be on his way out this summer. If the side's top scorer leaves, they're going to need an experienced striker to lead the side. Yet Vincenzo Montella seems to love fielding approximately twelve playmakers at any point in a match. Would the arrival of Gómez, a much more traditional striker, indicate Montella's willingness to shift his strategy?
With the true transfer season only just beginning, it may be a few weeks before we know Gómez’s fate. But should just one domino in the intricate transfer chain fall, Gómez may be finding himself donning purple quite soon.
