Marcos Aoás Corrêa, better known as Marquinhos, was possibly the biggest surprise of the last season in Serie A, and perhaps European football in general. AS Roma signed the defender from Corinthians for €4.5m but, as obvious as his talent was, not many people who would have dared to predict that, just a year later, the best teams in the world would compete for his signature.

Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are all reportedly involved in the chase for young Brazilian, with the Parisians the strong favorites according to Italian press. Marquinhos’ agent, Roberto Calenda, confirmed offers from the three clubs. Calenda also added that Marquihos would love to stay with Roma, but the club may need to sell the future star to finance other transfers.
The giallorossi have already snapped up Mehdi Benatia and Tin Jedvaj, with Kevin Strootman's €17m deal all but finished -- so it's not really surprising that the club will jump at the chance of getting €30m for the Brazilian. The price would make Marquinhos one of the most expensive defenders in history, a huge sum for a player with only one full season of professional football behind him.
