Francesco Lodi has been one of Serie A's best midfielders over the last couple of seasons, earning links to both Milanese clubs after consistently excellent performances for Catania. However, Genoa have stepped up to sign the 29-year-old, selling Panagiotis Tachtsidis to the elefanti in return.
Genoa sign Francesco Lodi, sell Panagiotis Tachtsidis to Catania
Catania’s star playmaker Francesco Lodi has completed his move to Genoa, with Panagiotis Tachtsidis headed the other way.

It’s effectively a like-for-like switch, with Lodi and Tachsidis both central midfield playmakers. On the face of things, Genoa look like they’ve come out from this deal best, acquiring a great passer who has been so fundamental to the rossazzurri’s success of late -- as well as one of Serie A’s best dead-ball specialists.
But, on closer analysis, Catania don’t have too great a reason to be upset. Lodi’s departure had grown increasingly inevitable, and ensuring they had a replacement lined up was their biggest problem. In Tachtsidis they’ve filled the void, snapping up a slightly more inconsistent performer, but one seven years Lodi’s junior. Showing flashes of his great potential at Roma last season, Tachtsidis could well flourish at the ever-exciting elefanti this season.
