Everton complete signing of Wigan’s Arouna Kone
Everton have confirmed the signing of Arouna Koné from Wigan Athletic on a three-year deal.

The move comes as new Everton manager Roberto Martinez raids his former club to sign the Ivorian striker. The 29-year-old was signed by Martinez at Wigan from Levante in 2012, and had an excellent campaign last season, scoring 13 goals and helping the Latics to a remarkable FA Cup triumph but failing to prevent their relegation from the Premier League.
Newcastle United were heavily linked with Kone, too, but the Magpies have now lost out in their race to sign the striker. Kone, also a veteran of three Africa Cup of Nations campaigns and one World Cup, will bolster the Toffees' strikeforce as Martinez adds the player to the likes of Nikica Jelavic and Kevin Mirallas.
Everton announced the deal for Kone on their official website, with the player now set to meet up with the rest of his teammates for the club’s pre-season.
