West Bromwich Albion confirmed the signing of Matěj Vydra on their website, announcing that the Czech striker has joined from Serie A side Udinese on a season-long loan. The Baggies have reportedly beaten Premier League clubs West Ham, Sunderland and Swansea to the 21-year-old's signature.

West Brom have completed the signing of Udinese striker Matěj Vydra on a season-long loan.

West Brom manager Steve Clarke has been looking to sign a replacement striker after the Baggies' top scorer last season, Romelu Lukaku, returned to his parent club Chelsea. They've already completed the signing of Nicolas Anelka this window, though with the Frenchman now 34, it's unsurprising they've looked to bring in a younger forward too.
Vydra, who’s capable of playing out wide or through the middle, scored 22 league goals on loan at Watford last season. He was named the 2013 Championship Player of the Year, and rewarded with his first international caps for the Czech Republic last August. He’s currently with his national team ahead of their friendly against Hungary on Wednesday.
