England vs. Scotland: Preview and TV schedule
The world’s oldest football rivalry resumes for a one-off friendly as England host Scotland at Wembley to mark the 150th anniversary of the English FA.
Although England will be heavy favourites, there is some encouragement for the Scots - Wayne Rooney will be lacking match sharpness, having missed most of pre-season despite the controversy over his supposed injury, while Gordon Strachan's men recently recorded a 1-0 victory away against Croatia, which should give them encouragement against the superior talents of England.
Rooney is likely to start for England regardless, with Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott most likely to join him in attack, despite a minor knock to the latter. Surprise call-up Rickie Lambert could also feature at some point, while Jack Wilshere and Frank Lampard are the two certain starters in midfield.
The Scots have some injury problems themselves, however - Liam Bridcutt has withdrawn from the squad, while Steven Fletcher, Darren Fletcher and Gary Caldwell are long-term absentees. Leigh Griffiths could start up front with James Morrison expected to play in the hole.
