Tottenham Hotspur announced on their website that they have reached an agreement for the signing of Étienne Capoue. The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has reported set Spurs back around £8.6 million, and arrives after failing to agree personal terms with Cardiff City earlier this summer.
Tottenham reach agreement for Étienne Capoue
Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they’ve reached an agreement with Toulouse to sign Étienne Capoue.

The French international will help beef up Spurs' midfield after the departures of Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore to Hull City, and Scott Parker's imminent sale to Queens Park Rangers. Capoue -- who was named in the Ligue 1 2012 Team of the Year -- is a good all-round midfielder, and also can provide cover at centre-back when needed.
He is André Villas-Boas’ fourth summer signing, and second midfield arrival after Paulinho. Quite whether he’ll slot into the starting 11 or will be used as a backup remains to be seen, though with defensive midfielder Sandro returning from a major knee injury, it makes sense for Spurs to stock up in that department.
