Fulham have announced the signing of Darren Bent from Aston Villa on a season-long loan. The England international had struggled to find first team football ahead of Christian Benteke and Andreas Weimann at Villa Park, and made just eight starts last season.
Fulham sign Darren Bent on season-long loan
Fulham have signed striker Darren Bent from Aston Villa on a season-long loan.

At Craven Cottage, the 29-year-old is reunited with manager Martin Jol, who he worked under at Tottenham Hotspur. Quoted on the Fulham website, Jol commented:
“Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired. He has shown in the Barclays Premier League that he is composed and clinical in front of goal but, even if he is not scoring, he is involved in some good link-up play, creating opportunities for his teammates. I’m delighted that he has joined us, he gives us pace up front and I am confident that he will add to our goals scored tally this season.”
Though Bent hasn't had regular football recently, his record suggests he's a capable striker. He's netted over a century of Premier League goals, scoring 24 in a great 2009-10 campaign at Sunderland. Added to an attack already including Dimitar Berbatov and Bryan Ruiz, Fulham shouldn't find themselves short on goals this season.
